The Missionaries of God-NJ in partnership with Connect for Community will be having a toy drive for the unfortunate and homeless children ages 2 thru 12 on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.  If you are interested in donating new or gently used toys, please bring them to the address listed below Tuesday or Thursday 2:00pm-4:30pm or on Saturday, December 12th at Noon.  The toys do not need to be wrapped. We are looking to make those children that are less fortunate than us to have a Merry Christmas.  The toys do not have to be expensive.

We are also collecting coats, blankets and clothing for all ages and would like to offer a brown bag with juice and a snack for children to take home.

8:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Plaza diner will donate $1 to Connect for Community for each flyer turned in with a meal. These monies will be used specifically for shopping for food needed by the Community Soup Kitchen.  (Limit 1 flyer per table)

We will also be accepting donations of non-perishable and toiletry items for the Community Soup Kitchen which serves up to 300 people a day, 365 days a year!

Items Needed
Hearty meals in a can, low sugar and low sodium items, canned fruit and vegetables, whole grain pasta, brown rice, oatmeal and cold cereal, cans of coffee, tea bags, toiletry items (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, etc.)

Each Year the Connect for Community Back to School Fair helps prepare hundreds of parents and children for a successful school year.  Click on the flyer (Right) for more information.

You can help by making a donation of:

  • 1 and 2 inch Binders
  • Index Cards
  • Erasers
  • Loose Leaf Paper
  • Double Pocket Folders
  • Scissors
  • Post-Its
  • Pencil Sharpeners
  • Tissue Packs
  • Gently used clothing of all ages.

Donations can be brought the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church at 246 Woodport Road in Sparta (leave in the box marked “School Supplies” in the church vestibule) or to Project Self-Sufficiency at 127 Mill Street in Newton. Thanksgiving Celebration 2015

Thursday, November 26, 2015 – NOON-3:00PM

Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at:
Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 61 Richards Avenue, Dover, N.J. 07801

We will also be accepting donations of gently used coats and blankets as well as non-perishable and toiletry items for the Kitchen, which serves up to 75 people a day!

Items needed include:
Hearty meals in a can, canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, rice, oatmeal and cold cereal, cans of coffee, toiletry items (shampoo, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, toilet paper etc.)

The Jersey Battered Women’s Service of Morris County

The Plaza Diner will donate $1 to Connect for Community for each flyer turned in with a meal. Only one per table per check, please. These monies will be used specifically for shopping for food and personal hygiene products needed by JBWS.

We will also be accepting donations for Thanksgiving baskets for families living at the shelter. Items needed include: Stuffing mix, Cranberry Sauce, Canned Potatoes, Sugar, Olives, Pickles, Instant Potatoes, Snacks, Crackers, Rice, Disposable roasting pans, Aluminum foil, Saran wrap, Turkey cooking bags, canned vegetables, Powder gravy mixes, canned or jar, Sparkling cider, Canned fruit, Applesauce, Coffee and Tea.
